Great to reconnect with a high school friend - Patrick Walsh - at his new coffee shop in Louisville, CO:  Bittersweet!  Who knew that we'd go from playing soccer together to having food companies 15 years later.

 Very happy to announce that Olomomo has been selling well at the Niwot Market for the past couple of weeks!  We did a demo there two weeks ago and one customer, fresh off of a morning of gardening, asked us to toss a sample in her mouth since her hands were too dirty.  

This last few weeks has really picked up!  We were just accepted into a long-time favorite local market in North Boulder called Lucky's!

Last week ABC News in Denver featured Olomomo Nut Company in a story about startups in the struggling economy. The opportunity to be on TV came about through winning the Bard Center Business Plan contest. Olomomo was featued in the Boulder County Business Report after winning the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship contest.  It’s nice to get a little ink for this crazy little idea!

The Denver Post scooped the story on the Bard Center Entrepreneurship event.  Interestingly, they were the only media to show up besides food blogger Ryan Wagner of The Reluctant Eater.

How cool is that? Yesterday, with the help of Peter Genuardi, my brother Dave Perkins, and Louisa Jenkins (and lots of great advice from older brothers, friends and smart advisors), we won ourselves a little contest at the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship, where I did my MBA program. I’m just tickled. The little check in the picture below will sure help us grow our business a bit, and we’ll be signing on with the Boulder Innovation Center this summer to help take things forward.

I think we have a chance to do something fun and useful here – create the best darn nut products available, and solve the “protein problem” in coffee shops while we’re at it. I guess the judges agreed.

It was really gratifying that two local natural and organic companies placed top two in a contest dominated by tech companies. Even more gratifying that the second place winner was The Organic Dish. Um, we use their kitchen to roast our nuts by moonlight. They’re our landlords. How funny is that? They had a really great presentation, and I highly recommend their organic food ready to bake in 15 mins – super delish.
